Water Sloshing Noise Under Instrument Panel
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of sloshing noises due to water in the cross member under the windshield, the vehicle
may have incomplete seam sealant at the A pillar where it meets the cross member under the windshield either on the right or left side of the vehicle
(Figure 1). In addition, the water may enter the cross member at the central joint under the windshield (Figure 2). To resolve, drain the water from
the cross member as outlined below.

1. Remove cowling covers. Refer to WIS document AR83.25-P-1406GZ and inspect as per Figures 1 and 2.
2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to WIS document AR68.10-P-1020GZ.
3. Detach the noise damping material to gain access to the cross member stop plug locations at right and left sides (Figure 3).
4. Remove stop plugs to drain water.
5. Locate water entry point using soapy water and compressed air. Coat the area(s) in question with soapy water, then use a blow gun from inside
the vehicle and apply pressure to the cross member at the stop plug hole only.
NOTE:
Use low air pressure at the cross member.
6. Check the entire cross member outer seam for leaks (bubbles will indicate leakage).
7. Dry and clean leaking area(s).
8. Re-seal with brush on seam sealer (A001 989 64 20). Be sure to follow the directions for the flash off time.
9. Perform water leak test, verify water no longer enters the cross member.
10. Use cavity preservation agent (A000 986 72 70) and the application gun (319-SAT-9795) to apply preservation agent to the inside of the cross
member on both sides.
11. Reassemble in reverse order.
