Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 08 - 13 dated December 5, 2008 for reasons listed below.



Affected Vehicles



Condition



Repeat repairs of air conditioning system. Debris was dispersed throughout the refrigerant circuit after air conditioning component damage. During



the first repair, the refrigerant circuit was not thoroughly cleaned. The debris has contaminated the new components.



Technical Background



In cases where an air conditioning system component (such as a compressor or other system component) has failed and debris from the compressor



or component is circulated throughout the refrigerant circuit, the refrigerant circuit must be cleaned of any and all debris or damage to the



replacement components will result.



The cleaning method until now has been disassembly of each part of the refrigerant circuit, blowing out the debris with compressed air, and drying



the components with nitrogen. This was ineffective for this purpose and labor intensive. A more thorough and less time consuming method is



flushing the circuit with refrigerant.

Use the ROB134APF Air Conditioning Service System with VAS 6337/1A Air Conditioning System Flushing Device for effective refrigerant



handling and air conditioning circuit flushing after air conditioning component failure.



Now air conditioning system refrigerant recovery, evacuation, recharge and refrigerant circuit cleaning after component failure can be performed



with a single servicing station.



The VAS 6338/1 Adapter Set for Refrigerant Circuits. Along with an additional adapter (VAS 6338/33 for the front expansion valve bypass for the



Audi Q7) this kit contains the adapters necessary to complete a thorough flush operation of a contaminated circuit.



ElsaWeb contains the technical information for each model regarding the necessary adapter applications and connections of the servicing station for

All other refrigerant recovery, evacuation and recharge operations are performed using the usual procedure specified in ElsaWeb. An operations



manual will accompany each servicing station that will describe operation of the unit.



Procedure



1. If an air conditioning component has been diagnosed as the root cause of the failure and this component is suspected of releasing debris through



the circuit, continue the diagnosis to determine if this is the case.



2. Turn the power to the servicing station on and begin by recovering the refrigerant from the system through the normal service fittings.



Tip: During the entire process avoid interrupting the power to the station. The stations internal memory will keep a log of all operations and can



conveniently be recalled and printed. If the power is interrupted, the station will lose the memory of the process, and the oil volume recovered, oil



volume added, refrigerant volume recovered, etc. will have to be manually determined.



3. Disconnect the service hoses. The VAS 6338/1 adapters will be used to bypass the following:



^ Compressor.



^ Receiver drier (depending on model).



^ Expansion valve.



If vehicle is equipped with a restrictor, remove the restrictor and reconnect the line.

4. Once the appropriate adapters are in place, connect the service station to the vehicle through the air conditioning compressor hoses. The flushing



attachment ports are labeled on the flusher.



This connection strategy allows for a system flush in the opposite direction of the normal refrigerant flow.

The flush program will begin with an evacuation of the system and a rate of rise test. This is necessary to test the integrity of the connections



before the flush cycles begin. If the rate of rise test passes, the program will proceed into the flush cycles. These cycles will occur automatically in



succession.

The debris is then rinsed from the circuit and contained within the filtration in the flusher. After the flush program, the system will be evacuated.



5. After the system is evacuated, disconnect the station.



Audi Q7 with four zone climate control



If the vehicle is an Audi Q7 with four zone climate control, the flush process will be repeated for the additional air conditioning unit in the rear



according to the repair information in ElsaWeb.



1. Separate the front and rear air conditioning Systems for individual rinse operations.



The VAS 6338/1 contains the necessary adapters to separate the systems for the individual rinse operations.

2. Bypass the rear expansion valve with an adapter from the VAS 6338/1.



3. When complete, remove any adapters that were installed from the VAS 6338/1.



4. Install components in need of replacement.



5. Connect the station in the usual manner through the service fittings and perform the normal evacuation, oil fill and refrigerant recharge operations.



6. Recall and print a log of the job. Attach the log to the repair order.

Leaking shock absorbers



A leaking shock absorber is characterized by a wet film of oil running down the pipe. This needs to be replaced.



Shock absorbers with oil marks

A light film of dried oil or oil marks on the pipe beneath the dust guard are not clear indication of a leaking shock. These are caused by residues



from filling up the shock during production or slight "condensation" in the seal area. This small amount of oil is for lubrication and reduces the wear



of the seal.



Tip: This does not affect the shock absorber. No repair is necessary.



Tip: For further information see the repair manual under "Shock absorbers, checking."

^ During a Bluetooth call the other party has trouble hearing them.



^ Voice recognition accuracy is poor.



Technical Background



This TSB provides guidelines for testing microphones in a vehicle.



Production Solution



Not Applicable.



Service



1. Investigate GFF to determine if a fault is stored for microphone operation in address words 56, 5F, 67, or 77 depending on vehicle and equipment



levels.



2. If a fault is stored in GFF, proceed with the test plan outlined in the scan tool. If there is no DTC stored, proceed to step 3.



3. Verify the complaint by using one of the following methods:



a. Pair a known good compatible Bluetooth phone to the system, and place a call to a landline contact. Place the call in the same conditions as the



customer concern (driving, stationary, A/C on, etc.).



If the call quality for the other person is clear and without distortion, then the microphones are OK and should not be replaced. If noise or



distortion is heard, then proceed to step 4.



b. Create a directory contact and then a voice tag for that entry. Create the voice tag in the same conditions as the customer concern (driving,



stationary, A/C on, etc.). Playback the entry and verify it is clear and without distortion.



If the entry sounds clear, then the microphones are OK and should not be replaced. If noise or distortion is heard, then proceed to step 4.



4. Check the microphones for mechanical defects:

a. Remove the roof module and verify the microphones are securely seated in the roof module by pressing on them. For 2012+ C7 & D4 vehicles,



remove the microphones and inspect the rubber seal around the edge of the microphone. Verify it is not torn or broken. If it is damaged, replace



the microphone. For vehicles equipped with integrated seat belt microphones, please reference TSB 2026851, 91 Belt Microphone Overview.



Note:



When installing microphones back into the roof module, make sure the microphones are installed straight into the cavity. Installing them at any other



angle can cause damage to the microphone and/or seal.



b. Inspect the microphone wiring and verify it is securely fastened in place and that there is no visible sign of damage.



5. Check the microphones for electrical defects:



a. Disconnect the microphones and verify the voltage coming from the module is 8V +/- 10%.



b. Disconnect the microphone cable at the control module and verify that the voltage on the wiring to the microphones is 0V.



c. If voltage is present in step a. and step b., then inspect the wiring for any shorts.



d. If voltage is not present in either case, or the incorrect voltage was measured in step a., then inspect the control module for proper output



voltage at the module and replace if necessary.



e. If both step a. and step b. were OK, then replace the microphones.

Es gibt mehrere Faktoren, die die Qualität innerhalb eines Fahrzeugs:

Der iPod oder der USB-stick wird nicht erkannt, oder der iPod wird nicht aufgeladen, wenn entweder Gerät angeschlossen ist an das Audi Music Interface (AMI).



Technischer Hintergrund



Kann eine der folgenden anwenden:



^ iPod und adapter-Kabel verbunden sind in der falschen Reihenfolge.



^ Das adapter-Kabel nicht mit dem Anschluss verbunden, weil der port nicht korrekt in der glove-box Gehäuse.



^ Der Kabelbaum für AMI zwischen die MMI-Steuereinheit (5F) und der Anschluss für den adapter-Kabel ist beschädigt.



Produktion Lösung



Nicht anwendbar.



Service1. Trennen Sie den iPod und den adapter-Kabel.



ein. Schließen Sie das Adapterkabel an den Anschluss im Handschuhfach Gehäuse. Adapter-Kabel sollte mit einem klicken einrasten. Wenn nicht, gehen Sie zu Schritt 2.



b. Schließen Sie den iPod an den adapter-Kabel.



c. Wenn der iPod erkannt wird, erklären, die Verbindung zu den Kunden.

d.... Die Verbindung Prozess gilt nicht für den USB-stick.



2. Installieren Sie die Anschluss-Stecker im Handschuhfach-Gehäuse.

Ersetzen, wenn nötig.



Der original-Kabelbaum kann im Fahrzeug verbleiben, es muss aber geschützt werden, von Rasseln gegen andere Komponenten.
