Condition
The customer may report that a crackling / cracking noise or echo comes from the speaker while on the phone via Bluetooth connection. The person
on the other side of the line may experience the same condition. The phone conversation may be described like a call under water.
Technical Background
Wrong coding of telephone transceiver R36 on an e.g. prior replacement may be the root cause.
TIP: Only MOST Telephone transceivers are potentially affected. A4 and A5 have a MOST system when they are equipped with a navigation
system.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
Verify if the coding of the Telephone transceiver R36 (Address word 77) is 10900.
- If this is not the case, change the coding accordingly and verify the phone function with the customer's phone.
- If this is the case, verify if the customers phone is compatible with the vehicle. In addition, try a different compatible phone in the customer s
vehicle and the customer s phone in a newer model year vehicle.
Depending on the findings, the customer may need a compatible phone, a customer-pay MMI software update, or R36 may actually have to be
replaced.
