Affected Vehicles
Condition
Customer may report the vehicle judders when pulling away. Other concerns may include a slipping under hard (track) driving or engine stumbles
under low speeds.
Technical Background
After a clutch change the clutch wear index must be reset to the default value. To ensure the clutch comfort, a new adaptation of the value is
necessary. For the best pulling-away comfort to be restored, a number of starts under certain conditions are necessary. To speed up this process new
software has been developed.
Production Solution
Improved software installed in production.
Service
Try to reproduce the customer complaint so that it can be clearly assigned to this TSB.
The following repair must only be carried out, if all the criteria match exactly; otherwise, this solution will not work and repeat repairs may be
necessary.
SVM Update Instructions
1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
82
2. Update the TCM (J217) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
Tip: If you have this condition and your software is not listed in this chart, create a TAC contact, attach current GFF and call into Technical
Assistance Center.
Tip: The range of the wear index after an adaptation specified in the guided fault finding is 3,000 - 8,000. Because of changes in the clutch this has
been changed to -2,000 - 12,000.
Tip: It is not necessary to receive a Repair Authorization to perform this or any other R8 TSB.
