Condition
Telephone call volume level becomes too quiet after a while and the volume cannot be increased sufficiently using the radio, steering wheel controls
or volume controls on the phone itself.
Technical Background
This can only occur with Concert II+ or Symphony II+ radios. When the volume level is being adjusted down on the radio or multi-function steering
wheel at the same time as an active phone call is ended, it is possible that the phone output level is permanently reduced in the radio.
Production Solution
A3: New software from MY2010.
TT: In preparation.
A4 / A4 Cabriolet: Not applicable (radio no longer in production).
Service
For A3, A4, A4 Cabriolet and TT vehicles:
When the condition occurs, it is possible to reset the phone output level by returning the radio to a default configuration. Only adaptation channel 51
must be changed.
1. Record all station presets. This procedure will cause all radio settings and memory to be lost because the radio will be returned to a factory default
configuration.
2. Select Vehicle Self Diagnosis >> 56 - Radio >> 012 - Adaptation >> Channel 51.
3. Change the value to a 1 and save.
It is not necessary to reset the adaptation channel to its original value. The radio settings are reset.
4. Restore station presets prior to returning vehicle to the customer.
5. Explain the technical background to the customer so as to avoid recurrence of the condition.
For A3 vehicles with a recurring customer complaint only:
Replace the radio using the applicable new part number listed in the parts table below and the appropriate GFF function test.
