Condition
Airbag warning light is on and any one of the following DTCs are present in the 15 Airbag Control Module (J234):
^ DTC B101704 (crash sensor for driver side airbag incorrect)
^ DTC B103604 (crash sensor passenger side airbag incorrect)
^ DTC B101804 (crash sensor for rear side airbag on driver side incorrect)
^ DTC B101904 (crash sensor for rear side airbag on passenger side incorrect)
The functionality of the airbag system is not affected by this condition.
Technical Background
The software in the airbag control module is too sensitive (only at engine startup) when diagnosing the side crash sensors. As a result, the airbag
control module can incorrectly set false DTCs for "crash sensor incorrect". The software in the airbag control module must be updated to repair this
condition. Replacing the side crash sensor will not affect this condition, thus it is not necessary.
Production Solution
Production vehicles received airbag control units with the optimized software.
Service
1. Delete the DTC from the control unit and proceed with the SVM software update for the airbag control unit.
2. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
3. Update the Airbag Control Module (J234) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below if necessary.
