Supersedes Technical DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR Group 91 number 09-75 dated November 2, 2009 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
^ The message Button vacant appears when pressing the Push To Talk button on the steering wheel.
^ In the telephone setup menu, the message Voice operation cannot be activated is displayed in the Sound Settings option.
^ Usually the issue occurs after replacing the Front Information Display Control Head (Headunit J523) or after retrofitting the Speech Dialog
System - Control Module J507.
^ Vehicles with Telephone Transceiver R36 (UHV) in combination with the Speech Dialog System - Control Module J507 (SDS) are affected.
Technical Background
The Speech Dialog System Control Module J507 may interfere with the internal speech command function of the Telephone Transceiver R36.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1. The Internal Speech Command function of the Telephone Transceiver R36 must be deactivated.
2. Change the coding of the Telephone Transceiver R36 - Coding (Addressword 77) to 10900.
3. A Reset via Headunit Adaptation channel 111 (set to 1) of the MMI system is necessary before verifying the proper function.
