Affected Vehicles
Condition
In A4 sedans with LED rear tail lights (PR No. 8SL) customer may report:
^ Individual LEDs of the rear tail light assemblies in the trunk lid are inoperative. The outer tail light assemblies mounted in the body are not
affected.
^ A warning message regarding rear lights may appear in the instrument cluster driver information display.
Technical Background
Corrosion on the individual LED contacts may prevent them from lighting. The rear tail lights consist of a multiple LED lights so the tail light
assembly as a whole continues to operate despite the faulty individual LED(s).
Production Solution
Modified LED contacts.
Service
1. If LED(S) are inoperative replace the tail light assembly as the LED lights are not serviceable.
2. If LED(s) are inoperative only on one side, replace the tail light assembly and check the production date of the tail light assembly on the opposite
side of the trunk lid.
3. If the production date of the fully operational tail light assembly is before 15.04.10 (April 15, 2010) replace it as well.

4. If the production date of the fully operational tail light is after 15.04.10 (April 15, 2010), do not replace it.
