CONDITION
After performing service work and resetting the Service Display using Vehicle Self Diagnosis, the service reminder reappears immediately or soon
after the customer leaves the dealership.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Worldwide, service items are divided into two groups: those triggered by accrued mileage and those triggered by elapsed time.
For customer convenience, North America groups these two kinds of service items together at our published service intervals. For example, both
time-related and mileage-related service items are performed at the 15K service. This practice reduces the how often the customer must visit the
dealer for routine maintenance.
In some other parts of the world, these two categories of service items are treated individually, and are therefore reset individually via separate
adaptation channels in the instrument cluster. However, attempting to reset the Service Display via Vehicle Self Diagnosis introduces the risk of not
resetting all the necessary adaptation channels for North America.
PRODUCTION SOLUTIONS
Not applicable.
SERVICE
When resetting the service interval display, use the Service Work function in Guided Functions or Guided Fault Finding. This method will ensure
that all necessary adaptation channels are reset.
