Keyless Entry - Remote Keys Inoperative
57 Remote function of vehicle keys inoperative
57 10 08

February 10, 2010.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 09-24 dated October 28, 2009 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
One of the following conditions is present:
^ All vehicle keys do not lock or unlock the vehicle electronically.
^ One vehicle key intermittently does not lock or unlock the vehicle electronically. If one key is intermittently inoperative electronically, access/start
authorization control module J518 (address word 05) will store a DTC for "no or incorrect basic settings" for the key.
In both situations all keys still function properly mechanically, operating the door locks and ignition switch.
Technical Background
^ Convenience system control module J393 (address word 46) does not detect radio signals from the keys.
^ The remote key loses synchronization, for example by repetitive button presses while the remote is outside of the range of the vehicle.
Production Solution
Optimized Convenience system control module (J393) software.
Service
1. Use Guided Fault Finding (GFF) to access convenience system control module J393 through address word 05.
493
2. Observe Field 1 of Measured Value Block 10 to determine if the convenience module is detecting radio signals from the remote keys. The values
in Field 1 should change as each remote key button is actuated. Refer to the Function Description document available in GFF to interpret the values.
If no signals are detected or if a DTC as described in the Condition is stored, proceed with the SVM update.
SVM Update Instructions
1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Update the convenience system control module (J393) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below, if necessary. If the software level is
already at the level listed in the table, proceed to step 5.
3. After performing the flash, initialize each key by inserting it in the ignition and switching the ignition on (Terminal 15 power).
4. Remove each key from the ignition switch and verify the remote functions properly.
5. If the keys still do not function, perform a reset of the convenience system control module (J393) by disrupting the power supply of the control
unit. With the ignition switched on and the vehicle lights off, remove the three power supply fuses for at least two minutes. The fuses are numbers 8,
10 and 11 of fuse carrier ST2 (black).
6. When the above procedures do not resolve the concern, please create a ticket using the Technical Assistance Center System in ElsaWeb.
