Classic Motor Carriages located in Miami, FL once represented one the largest replica car manufacturers in the United Stated throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. Early on, they were most recognized for producing a 1957 Porsche Speedster, 1953 MG-TD, and 1929 Mercedes SSK replicas. Their Mercedes was officially known and advertised as the Gazelle. Built on a heavy-duty tubular frame with 98” wheelbase, and weighing in at just 2200 lbs, these sporty roadsters offer an exciting ride, and surprising spacious cabin!
This 1929 Gazelle is finished in Classic Tan with Brown fenders accented wonderfully with tan pinstripe and matching Tan vinyl interior and convertible top! Options include Ford’s dependable 2.3L inline 4-cylinder engine with performance header, automatic transmission, 8” rear end with 3.00:1 gear ratio, Mustang II independent front suspension with rack & pinion steering and disc brakes, 14” Western wire spoke wheel covers with matching rear-mounted spare, 1” radial white wall tires measuring 195/75R14, wood dash and Grant GT wood steering wheel, Vintage Reproduction gauges providing full instrumentation, intermittent wipers, AM/FM/Cassette audio system, Trumpet horns, front badge bar presenting three badges (Germany, Mercedes Benz, and America), rearview mirror, yellow fog lamps, and front lap belts!
Early Gazelles such as this one were likely factory built, turn key examples. Once Classic Motor Carriages learned it was easier and more cost effective to sell the cars in kit form, they established some distributors nationally for parts and final assembly. Our car comes with an original title date of June 25th, 1985. Complete with all accessories including trunk mounted luggage rack, leather hood strap, boot cover, tonneau cover, original top, frame, & side curtains! It also comes with a complete assembly manual and original CMC factory brochure included as well. These factory cars were finished with odometer readings in kilometers, and this example has traveled just 8,633 kms (5,364 miles) from new! Documented as having only 3 former owners, we have no doubts it’s accurate on this pampered Gazelle! Each of these past owners took great care of the car and drove it only sparingly. And it is officially titled as a 1929 model year Mercedes Benz. Please feel free to call with any additional questions or to inspect this very unique car in person! Thanks for looking!
